Open Book

Open Book: 2026 Queer Youth Art Project

In this program, we’ll create accordion books handmade zigzag-folded books that stretch, expand, and unfold in surprising ways. Each fold becomes a new space to experiment, explore, and tell a story that doesn’t have to follow the usual rules.

We’ll use drawing, collage, writing, painting, found materials, and anything else that sparks an idea. You can build pockets, flaps, hidden pages, or long unfolding scenes. Your book might tell a story, capture a feeling, explore identity, or just be a place to try things out.

This workshop is a creative space for LGBTQ+ teens to make art, share ideas, and explore what matters to them. No art experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

This program is open to LGBTQ+ youth in grades 9–12.

Closer to Manchester? Stop by Manchester True Collaborative from 5:30-7PM for snacks, activities, and community celebration.

What is Trans Day of Snack?

For the uninitiated, Trans Day of Snack started with the Gender Reveal podcast in 2021 as a counterbalance to Trans Day of Visibility, which focuses on awareness. It centers trans joy, comfort, and care, reminding us that trans people deserve rest, support, and community.
